We are pleased to announce that Dr. Bradley (Brad) T. Zigler has joined the 44 Energy team as our new Senior Director. Brad will be expanding our combustion, powertrain, alternative energy, and new technology practices, as well as adding his deep expertise to our existing projects.
Brad comes to us from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where he was a Principal Engineer and Acting Group Manager for the Fuels and Combustion Science research group, recently managing a group of 22 scientists, engineers, postdocs, graduate students, and faculty joint appointments. At NREL, he led research efforts across a wide range of energy related topics, including ignition kinetics, fuel properties, emissions, engine performance and efficiency, alternative fuels, and low carbon fuels.
Prior to NREL, Dr. Zigler spent 10 years at Ford Motor Company, where he had design responsibility for the inline 4-cylinder engines used in the Ford Escort, Focus, and Escape. He also lead the engine systems design for the MY 2001 Ford Focus engine, which was Ford’s first ULEV program in North America. In addition, he was involved in various transmission programs.
Brad holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University, and a Master of Engineering Management from the University of Detroit-Mercy.
With extensive engineering expertise – spanning a wide variety of disciplines –Brad adds tremendous capability to the 44 Energy team. Brad will office in Golden, Colorado for most of 2022 but will then transition to the Oakland, California headquarters.
