Dr. Brad Zigler is a Senior Director at 44 Energy. He has over 30 years of experience in powertrain engineering and research, including transmission and engine systems, alternative fuels, and advanced combustion technology.
Earlier in his career, Brad spent 10 years at Ford Motor Company as a Product Design Engineer, where he worked on powertrain (engine and transmission) programs, gaining first-hand experience with advanced technologies, product development cycles, and best practices for design and quality.
Most recently Brad worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado where he was Principal Engineer and acting Group Manager of the Fuels and Combustion Science research group. In his role he worked on projects for the Department of Energy (DOE), the California Energy Commission (CEC), the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD).
Brad is a recognized expert in internal combustion engines, advanced combustion strategies, and fuel physicochemical effects on ignition and combustion. He has conducted alternative fuels research, including biofuel and low-carbon fuel blends, natural gas, and liquified petroleum gas (LPG). He is a former Chair of the ASME Internal Combustion Engine Division.
Brad holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
