On August 5, 2022, Dr. Bradley (Brad) T. Zigler, Senior Director at 44 Energy, was elected as a
Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The Fellow grade of
membership recognizes exceptional engineering achievements and contributions to the
engineering profession and to ASME.
Brad has been an active member and leader in ASME within the Internal Combustion Engine
Division (ICED). He served on the ICED Executive Committee from 2011 – 2017, including a term
as Division Chair from 2016 – 2017.
Brad has been involved in automotive powertrain research, design, and development for over
30 years. Most of his research in the past 20 years focused on fuels and combustion science for
internal combustion engines. He is known in the internal combustion engine community for his
work on fuel chemistry effects and is considered a leader in this field. Prior to joining 44 Energy,
Brad was a Principal Engineer and managed the Fuels and Combustion Science research group
at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Over the last 20 years, he has contributed
more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, including 24 journal publications.

projects is rewarding in itself,” said Dr. Zigler, “though I am deeply thankful and honored to
receive this recognition from my industry and academic peers.”
